Keep up with the news when heading out on the road

Road safety is not only important to people that drive for a living, everyone needs to be aware.

Large scale fires can offer danger to drivers in a wide area because of smoke spread.

For example, people have been evacuated since this past Sunday from a fire in Tennessee. The far has grown to 230 acres and the Pigeon Ford resort town is under a state of emergency.

A scary vacation:

It is Spring Break and families all over the country are taking vacations in places such as eastern Tenn. Reports state that the fire started on a lazy Sunday afternoon and engulfed a large number (over 30) of vacation cabins very quickly. The fire was likely helped along by all of the propane tanks that were used with the cabins, exploding. What has been reported as starting as a house fire has grown into a conflagration that involved approximately 20 fire departments.

Unexpected:

So, a fire is probably only expected by forest service officials that wait for such things during dry months. People that are on vacation in a mountain cabin or those visiting a theme park don’t expect to need to vacate because of an oncoming fire. While Dollywood has not been affected by what is going on, that is always possible. There is a lot of tourists and plenty of attractions in the area.

Driving through smoke:

Some parts of the country have to deal with smoky conditions on a regular basis. That does not mean that people become accustomed to such things in any way. A smoky highway or city streets are unsafe for those with any type of driving skills.
